Having recommended GTO to many people I feel compelled to express my
distaste for the series. Sure, it is funny, and it starts out very good,
but it's really trashy toward the end. The author actually believes he has
a good message when he does not. All teachers are basically portrayed as
perverts or psychos besides the great Onizuka. The whole series sounds like
someone who flunked college and then wanted to argue degree doesn't matter.
I mean after all Teshigawa turned out to be a complete psycho and he
graduadted from Tokyo University. Now mind you, Teshigawa is probably the
best character in the whole series after he decided to drop his burden as a
Tokyo University graduadte but it still doesn't change how the series
grossly slams anyone with a decent education background.

Also Miyabi's resolution came way too late. By the time the Angel arc
was done you can't help but to be totally insenstive about girls being
raped. The Angels were so obnoxious I wouldn't have mind if the strawberry
panty girl (I forgot her name... Ai or something) actually did get raped.
Where was game guru and all around super guy Mayu when Ai was rampaging in
the campus?

Miyabi has probably the best soloiques out of all the characters
especially during the confrontation with Urumi, but instead ending her story
during the Urumi vs Miyabi arc the author put it off and inserted the
totally tastless Angel arc, and then wrapped up. Speaking of the same
story, it's really hard as a reader to believe that Miyabi would be driven
to commit suicide by Urumi. Based on what the series sound like Urumi
would've been kidnapped by the mafia and promptly raped and then killed the
moment she tried to make a move against Miyabi, who is loved by everyone.
How can you say the series has a positive message when Onizuka would watch
Miyabi getting raped because she wasn't going to apologize and give back the
money she stole? Miyabi certainly wasn't the angel in that arc but if he
actually just asked her she'd have back down eventually, but instead he had
to wait until she was going to get raped to come rescue her and play the
hero.

Now, I think GTO is still a great series, but it really doesn't help
that Miyabi and Urumi are horribly portrayed throughout the series and they
are the main characters in the series, second only to Onizuka. Almost all
the other characters are good, even skateboard Mayu who is stupidly rich and
influential for a series like this (which also make it really hard to
believe Urumi could ever touch Miyabi since the reason he returned to high
school was that he heard this new teacher is making Miyabi unhappy).
