Can you give me some info on ACen? When exactly is it?
====
The actual dates are May 16-19, 2003. (May 16th just happens to be my
birthday! ^_^;;;)
====
[snip]
How much is it? The money issue is what I'm most worried about, if tickets
cost too much, I might not be able to save up.
====
well, that depends on how much is too much for you? Up until April 15th
the pre-reg cost is $40. After April 15th pre-reg applications will not be
accepted, and you'd have to pay 'at the door'. If you have to do that, then
I'd expect to pay between $5-10 more.
====
I'm guessing it is in Chicago, but do you know an exact place? I'm sure by
now the hotel it is in is probably booked, but I'd like to look for a nearby
hotel if I can.
====
It's being held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel and Convention Center.
The website describes it as a:
World-class convention hotel, connected by skywalk to Rosemont
Convention Center at O'Hare International Airport, just a 15-mile expressway
or subway train ride from downtown Chicago with convenient access to all of
metro Chicago's business, sporting, shopping and entertainment centers.
As for finding a room there, if you're definite on going, you should
still try to get a spot at the Hyatt. When you contact them, just mention
that you'll be there for Anime Central. You can make reservations on the
website, but if you want to call them, the number is: (847)646-1234. The
deadline to reserve a room for the convention is April 24th.
====
Now, well, I've never been to a convention before, so, assuming I can afford
it and all, how do I go about getting tickets?
====
First convention? No sweat. There really isn't much to worry about.
You can still pre-register at a lower price than at the door. Just go to the
website (acen.org) and go to the REGISTRATION page. It'll give you some more
info there on how to 'apply' for registration.
Basically it just involves sending them your info and your payment,
alond with a self-stamped, self-addressed anvelope. This is so they can send
you your 'acceptance slip'. You'll need that to get your 'tickets' at the
pre-reg line, at the con.
====
Also, is there anything else I should know about ACen or cons in general?
I'd really appreciate any help you can give me, thank you.
====
The only thing you should really know is that you should have FUN! If
there are any other questions the website should be able to cover them pretty
thoroughly. If not... well, you can always just try asking one of us that
have been going there since the first one... Like me or Albert Lunde.
