This is definitely OT, but the title has come up alot recently, so I 
thought I'd ask the following (I'm wordy, bear with me):

Revolutionary Girl Utena promotes (passively, not actively) pedophilia. 
(OMG, Mr. /Lickylick!?!?!?/)  It includes aspects that totally defy the 
suspension of disbelief.  The structure of the school they're at is so 
unsupervised, you might as well be watching/reading "Lord of the 
Flies."  At least one instance shows the characters breaking laws (Japanese 
AND American) with NO-ONE being arrested or even charged.  There's a 
massive castle floating above the garden of a school in MODERN DAY JAPAN 
and /nobody/ has bothered to investigate?  /Children/ are fighting with 
/swords/ in /honor duels!/  They could have /firearms/ and it would be less 
ridiculous.  Further, the main characters need serious wake-up calls. (A 
girl in modern society wanting to be a PRINCE?!?!  And let's not get into 
the abusive co-dependant relationships)  Keep in mind I've only read three 
volumes of the manga to get all this, and I'm purposely leaving out the 
stuff that offends the 'sensible Mormon' part of me.

So here's my question:  What do you people SEE in this series?

I keep watching this and reading it, I don't know why.  I find it very, very 
disturbing but I keep thinking I have to find out something, I don't know 
what.  I did like it when she had her pink boys uniform and she told the 
teacher there was no rule that she couldn't.  And that poor rose bride girl 
with the name that's almost like mine that I can't remember.  I just want her 
to be ok, so I can't just stop watching.

I was a bit worried about this myself.  But we're all happy because Akane-san 
is back, so we can't fight.  We really should have a party.  Who is it that 
lives in the middle?  I live in MN but so do a lot of people.  You guys call 
all just drive.  We finally have snow now too, so you could do 
snow-type-things.
