if I had gave my ground simply because of what his mother thought was right,
then I would have been the aforementioned image, with no soul of my own. And
how could one respect someone else's image?
I haven't heard from him since I left the church back in 1981. Sad, but
that's the way it goes.

Well, put, Relic.
Though I do see more and more people 'adopting' the spirit of that
single quote, it still saddens me to see all the people that _say_ they are
open-minded, but never act like they are.
I am sorry that you had never heard from the guy since then, but as you
say "that's the way it goes".

I've had people tell me about how adults "grow" out of animation, that they
can't believe that I watch "that porn" (referring to anime in general; I
don't watch porn) and heard the "Yeah, I remember watching those cartoons;
really loved Speed Racer." If that's how they want to believe, that's their
own business. I'lljust sit back and watch that Outlaw Star set I bought last
week ^_<.

For some reason I get the feeling to say some obscure phrase, like
"Otaku Power" and holding a fist up in the air, but I'm going to try to
refrain from doing that.
But, yeah, if that's how people want to believe, that's their own
business. That won't stop me from trying to 'set them stright' when they try
to put me down because I watch anime.
It angers me, more times than not, when I hear people falsely labeling
_all_ anime as porn. The only reason why they think that is because that's
what they saw, or _want_ to see...
