Hey, what exactly is "Exel Saga" about anyway? I watched the first episode
and got extremely annoyed with it. But I'm curious again, since so many
people say it's good...

I think it spoofs a whole lot of different anime shows, which I guess you
have to see to find it funny? I saw the first DVD at A-Kon last year and
thought some of it was funny but I didnt really like it (and think, they were
offereing it for lik 25 at the Suncoast store and I actually thought about
buying it just for the hell of it, glad I didnt) So I dunno really...

Just like every anime out there, there are some titles that some people
just can't get used to. I guess Excel Saga may be one of them. I haven't
seen most of the anime that Excel Saga spoofs, either. I just find it to be
hilarious.

Leona, like I've said in a recent post, you can't 'judge' a title by
it's first few (let alone its first) episodes. What was it about the first
episode that annoyed you?

True, a few people may get turned off by the way Excel's speech just
sorta goes off the "deep end", to me it's pretty funny, but it had me rolling
on the floor watching it in Japanese. Many (if not _all_) of the inside
jokes might not be understood, though. The entire anime pokes fun at Japanese
society.

     It's kinda like James Bond in a Gilligan's Island setting... I don't
know, I just came up with that, so I can't explain it. Think: Someone's
trying to take over the world, but does it in a very... unorthodox way... The
so-crazy-it-just-might-work, way.

Of course, someone trying to take over a city (let alone the world) is
bound to fail (miserably) in the anime universe; especially when out of your
_two_ employees, one's a bumbling idiot with a gung-ho attitude, and the
other's anemic to the point that she passes out at the slightest thing.

So, that's what this anime's basically about. Oh, and of course there's
an opposing "agency" against them, which happens to be 'funded' by the
government.
