<I wonder what percentage of our mailing list does martial arts, and which
kinds...It'd be kinda interesting if we could do some sort of poll (not on
the ML, it'd be too confusing).>
How's that poll going? I practice martial arts as well, and (if you
couldn't guess before) along with aikido and hapkido, I also practice with
swords. This is why I, myself, am so adamant that swordfighting is a martial
art.
I've been practicing with the sword for goddess knows how long, and been
practicing aikido and hapkido for maybe twice that amount of time...
I've also recently started practicing tai chi chuan.
<Anyway, my take is that kendo IS a martial art, technically. Plus, when i
was taking my driver's training course, I learned that like the 3rd or 4th
most common road rage weapon is a SWORD....!??!?
That's kinda scary if you ask me.>
Well, what are the 1st and 2nd? Just because it's the 3rd of 4th
doesn't mean a thing... In relation, Wendy's might be 3rd or 4th in the fast
food industry behind McDonalds or Burger King, but considering how much sales
the 1st and 2nd placed competitors ranked, Wendy's still looks to be
struggling behind their shadows. See what I mean?
<The Art of War...good book, but it's kind of hard to read. That's probably
why I forgot what's in it..ehehe. Also, I've probably already said this, but
the Book of Five Rings is excellent, too.>
Book of the Five Rings... if that is what I'm thinking of it's basically
along the same lines, but with the addition of using the elements as a medium
to get the point across.
