Odd... I know many kendo-ka in Japan who would take grave
offense at that remark....

Any form of weapon study (hands and feed _are_ weapons) can be
termed a martial art. Sword study is just as much a martial
art as is any of the open-hand arts. It is only the weapon
involved that changes.

Well, I can speak of my own personal experiences... I got into
Ranma not aware of Akari and Konatsu, and indeed, only found
out about them after I had already formed some preconcieved
notions about Takahashi's pairings.... in that Ryouga and
Ukyou, since they were the only ones without pairs, should be a
couple.

Then came out Akari and Konatsu, and my cheerily held beliefs
went to pot.

I wasn't happy. I didn't really speak out against them then,
and still do not, simply because, well, I'm not the author and
the author can do whatever they damn well please with the
characters. I _do_ think that both are simply cop-out
characters, introduced because Takahashi was thinking of the
end, and saw loose ends that needed some sort of resolution.
So no, I'm not now and never have been overly fond of the two
of them.

Of course, people can go on and on about how wrong Ryouga and
Ukyou are together, and to be honest, I have to agree with
them. However, I still remember thinking back when I was first
into the series that you know, these two lonely hearts deserve
each other....

But that's just my thoughts. That and two bits won't get you
squat in today's economy....
