Actually, unless I'm just not hearing from the Sarah-haters, more people 
are like you- they were used to Sarah as boy-type Ranma after 3 seasons and 
the OAVs, and don't like Richard's wimpy-sounding version.  (now that I 
think about it though, with the advent of Season 7, Richard has been 
boy-type Ranma longer than Sarah was...)

Brigitta Dau did girl-type Ranma for the OAVs (which came out first, 
instead of last) and season 1.  Venus Terzo did it for the remaining seasons.
