I already have a PS2 (almost a year now), so I might be a bit
biased... but all the same....

The Gamecube... first off, damn it's small! I was really
surprised first time I saw it in person, especially after
owning the PS2 and seeing the comparably bulkly X-Box. As far
as games go, I've not really seen anything on GameCube that
really makes me want one, although Rogue Squadron II is a lot
of fun....

The X-Box.... for all the hardware hype, I'm still not
impressed by any of the games or graphics I've seen or played.
DOA3 looks nice, but plays pretty much just like DOA:H on PS2.
The graphics are nice, but not really any better than the PS2
is capable off... keep in mind, that DOA2:H is already a year
old, and the graphics are somewhat dated. The sports games
look good, but I don't care much for them on any console....

In all, the hardware in all of them is fairly comparable, with
the PS2 and X-Box above the GC.... but the X-Box isn't really
any better than the PS2 with it's dual processors... so really,
it's gonna come down to games. And that means it's gonna come
down to developers, and who wants to develop for who.

Nintendo will always have it's niche. I think the real battle
will be between the industry leader, Sony, and the newcomer,
Microsoft. Sony has already gotten a bit of bad comments about
the difficulties of developing for the PS2, so I guess time
will tell.

My guess is still that Sony will come out on top. Lots of
computer geeks have a distrust of all things Microsoft, and I
think you'll see that factor into sales.
