Frank Sanchez, who wrote the ML FAQ, is assocated with
Acen preregistration, I think, but isn't often heard
from these days.
My off-hand advice is bring "all the money you can afford
to spend", plus 10%. Don't bring your life savings, 'cause
the temptation is too great.
The "dealers room" had expanded to two rooms as of last year.
I feel confident that had I had unlimited money and a stronger
back, I could have spent many times more than I did.
Cash is good because hotel-area cash machines tend to empty
out, plus it is good for gettting deals on Sunday.
I'll be at Acen, but because two hotels have filled up,
I got a room at a nearby Motel 6, rather than go to the
"official" overflow hotel further away.

I'm not surprised. Love Hina appears to combine a whole lot
of cuteness with at at least a modest amount of plot (I
say this after watching the first couple of episodes.)
Of course, it doesn't have the epic length of much of Takahasi's
work. (Though I hear there is a "Love Hina" manga.)
"Love Hina" obviously being marketed as a cute-girl show (why
else would they sell limited-editon DVDs with figures of the female
characters included.)
