I wonder why they use the clothing/hairstyle like that.  Most people in China wear
European style clothes, and most girls actually have short hair, kind of like Akane.
Even in the rural areas, it's just a simple blouse, like the light-blue shirt Shampoo
wore to sleep, and some pants.  Besides, even in old pictures, I don't see anyone
with Shampoo's hairdo.  Usually all the hair goes up in two buns.

Is it just so they can ID the character as Chinese?
