    Well, the name does say Fantasy on it...

    Final Fantasy has long moved past the days of Anime.  Even a diehard 2D
fan like me recognizes that the technology is at a stage where they can do
things better 3D than 2D if done right.

    Final Fantasy was never meant to be Animeish.  Amano's designs are more
surreal than anything else.  It just happened to be 2D because they didn't
have anything better to do it on.
