Tokyopop is listing a Ranma 1/2 TV DVD Japanese box set (I assume region
two, no subtitles) coming out soon, (for a lot of money).

I'm not sure they will get many any takers in the US, since Ranma 1/2,
unlike Maision Ikkoku, has continued coming out at a steady if
slow pace, there's no big finish to look forward to seeing,
and little enough plot that they can sell them out of order.

The final two TV episodes are the introduction of Ranma's mother,
which as I recall falls in the low 20's out of 38 volumes of Japanese
manga. (As recently noted Viz does _not_ do volumes the same way
they did in the Japanese edition).

_If_ they follow the pattern of the MI DVD box, this may be a limited
preorder item, but the individual DVDs may be marked later.

Looking at CD Japan might shed light on this.

This might also raise hopes for a us DVD release (though not much),
since US DVD rights have sometimes been made contingent on a prior
Japanese DVD release (because Japanese DVD prices are high relative
to the US and region codes don't stop reverse importing entirely.)
