This has got me thinking, the whole, "Will Ranma last?"
What if it didn't, could you imagine the loss to future generations?
It may sound corny, but if I stop to ponder it, I realize how many things in
my life were shaped by Ranma 1/2 in some way, from injokes to long roadtrips.
I hope someone had microfiched it somewhere, or stuck it in one a
those timevault thingies. If anything deserved to be preserved by the Seldon
Foundation it is this.
Don:
<<well, I wonder what's going on in the Tenchi ML... I guess they can always
speculate since the series hasn't ended yet>>
Actually, yes it has. The TV universe ended with Tenchi Muyo in Love
2. The OAV universe is effectively dead, since they can make another OAV,
but have voiced on a number of occasions their fear of doing so. If another
OAV comes about, it will be long fanservice, just bowing to pressure. From a
commerce stand point, I can see that, but from a storytelling standpoint...
Well, my point is, aside from the still-running comics, everything has been
said and done. Actually, over on the Tenchi ML, we're quietly and
thoughtfully (relatively, anyway) discussing the last Tenchi film, which
irratated no end of viewers (I loved it, tho'), it taking around a whole year
for some fans to calm down enough to discuss it.
The Ranma ML will last longer, I imagine, than the Tenchi ML, simply
because it's much more dog-eat-dog-even-when-dog-not-hungry over there.
Anyone else who's a member of both, will back me on that.
