Smimm:

Thanks for the info!

>Urmm, just a piece of advice, piracy (and especially avocating it) is a
>touchy subject here. ^ ^!!

I'm not advocating anything. I just said I got a pirated copy of it,
but I never said _everyone_ should buy pirated stuff... ^_^

Originals are the best, of course. I don't buy pirated stuff myself,
except in special cases like this one. Mononoke Hime is *only*
available in pirated CD's. ^_^;;; And even then, it's VERY hard to find
one.

Did you think I said a pirated CD is great? No, I meant Mononoke Hime
is great. ^_^

Anyways, sorry for the confusion.

<snip entire last post>

Why are you so determined on advocating your extreme hatred for Ranma?
I only have so much patience, you know, and you're seriously stretching
my limits... ^_^

>Wait, wait, wait. The whole deal about him freezing and turning to
stone
>is just a comedic effect for the manga because you can't show people
>jumping up and down and screaming as effectively. In the anime, they
>substitute it for running and screaming.

Not so. He meets up with a cat quite often in the manga, and he's often
shown running around screaming until he bumps into something, usually a
brick wall or a post.

Ranma only freezes up when his fear _goes over the scale_. Then, and
only then, does he snap into cat-mode.

Wasn't this what I said in the first place? *sigh*

See anime episode where the cats are clinging to Ranma, terrified of the
huge tiger. And Ranma was so terrified that he couldn't move a damned
muscle to shrug them off.

In general, people only freeze up in fear when the fear becomes too much
for the mind to comprehend. That's what happens with Ranma, I suppose,
when his mind is too choked up with fear, just before he goes "cat".

That happened to me once, too. I was at our school fair, riding a
carnival ride, after a dare with my friends. I'm freakingly afraid of
heights, and after a couple of minutes going round and round with the
air whipping my face, I made the mistake of closing my eyes, and I only
got more terrified. So much that I sat motionless, my grip loosened on
the bars holding the door of the cab closed, and it _almost_ opened.
Good thing my friend in the cab beside me was able to jam the handle
back in time, or else we would have tumbled down from 20-30 feet up in
the air, maybe more.

Back to topic.

Seriously, Mark, you can't expect everyone to have the same opinion as
yours. I realize that might not be your intention, but your writing
seems to sound like it. Tone it down a little, you sound like you're
eager for a fight.

I've learned by now to let people think what they wanna think, and just
LET GO. The same way I've ignored most of your comments about Ranma,
like how the seppuku threat isn't as awful in your opinion, or how
Ranma's got it way better because he doesn't turn into an animal, also
in your opinion.

"I don't think it's as bad as you make it sound like." Sure, YOU THINK.
The problem is, _WE_ don't think so. (*sigh* How many times have I
said this???) Learn to accept that, you'll feel a heck of a lot better.
And don't rub salt in the wound by explaining in great detail WHY you
don't think so... it has the same effect as adding more logs to an
already blazing fire.

Notice how the debate has strayed from Ryouga and focused more on Ranma.
I'm not even bashing Ryouga anymore, you're the only one who's doing the
bashing here. It's because I've simply accepted that our opinions
differ, and you HAVE to RESPECT that some people may like the very same
things you hate about a character.

If you really can't stand Ranma that much and have to blab about how
much you hate him, then please, don't do it here. Or at least don't put
so much _acid_ in your words. Take into consideration that some of us
happen to love Ranma, and don't appreciate your scathing remarks about
the very same character we love the most, and the way you're so
determined to make him sound like the lowest scum on earth.

I dislike Ryouga probably as much as you hate Ranma, but I never bashed
him, did I? I never said "his suffering isn't as bad as Ranma's" or
"he's so freaking _good_ I hate him" or whatever. I've never bashed his
character the way you have Ranma's.

Why? Again. ACCEPT that our opinions are different, and probably will
NEVER be the same. Just as you don't like people saying Ryouga should
be punished for sleeping with Akane, we Ranma fans don't like having
Ranma's skills brushed off as "god-mode", his weaknesses dismissed as
"not as bad as blah and blah" and generally have his character pounded
into microscopic bits of dust.

I'm really _really_ tired of this. Can't we just agree to disagree or
something? I made a deal with Hotnit last year, I'll make a same deal
with you. You shut up about why you hate Ranma so much, and I'll shut
up about why I hate Ryouga (c'mon, I haven't done this in a LOOONG time
already).

Let the other members of the ML give a collective sigh of relief.
I'm sure they're as tired of this as I am, since many of them have been
around a lot longer than us.
