A few people (Shadow and Ronald foremost) seem to wonder what
exactly Escaflowne is (shounen or shoujo, I mean).
A single thought just popped up; I think Escaflowne was first
designed as an anime and that several artists made different
versions of it. As Ronald, I recall reading about two different
versions of "the" manga, both very different in design, and both
failing to pair up with the quality of the anime ^_^
I personnaly didn't really bother finding out, because to be honnest
it'd be a challenge. Traditionnal views on design and subplots would
place it in shoujo, but the perspective, changing from Hitomi to
Van, and concentrating on the aspect of teh quest and adventures
that await them, makes it a good portion shounen.
Besides, it doesn't matter.

Granted, but he can have innocent humor when he wants to. When
he's with Fuuma, it's like he's found a soulmate. Their sick humor
is just too good to be true.
