Hello to all,

(I'm finally getting a little used to this ML's format)

Don:

Well...I really don't know what to tell you. I've only been on this ML for
a few weeks, but when I saw that message, something about it just didn't
make sense. I actually considered sending a joke reply back, fabricating
some reason to bash Shoryu, or maybe trying to see how many of the ML
"rules" I could break at once (Might be fun on a slow day...). Problem is,
I don't know the ML well enough yet to try something that might not be
taken in a joking manner. As for the information, I just picked it up from
some of Shoryu's own writings. You can tell a lot about a person from the
way they write, if you know where to look.

Albert Lunde:

>I wouldn't agree: I think it's a very nice romantic comedy series.

From two different perspectives.

From a hardcore anime fan's perspective, I found it to be a decent
romantic comedy as well, although more towards the romantic than the
comedy. It's one of those animes that builds upon itself, so that after
you watch a few episodes, you get hooked into the characters and the
story. One of those unexplainably addictive series. Not bad by any means,
it manages to be a nostalgically touching tale exactly when it needs to be
in order to make it stand out and be different.

From a non-hardcore anime fan's perspective, I found it to be boring as
hell - comedy moments too few and far between, emotional scenes a little
too drawn out and staged, love triangle that manages to drag and drag,
etc...

>"Aoi" being sort of a blue-green, but including both blue and green.

>And if you look at Japanese traffic lights in anime, they look
>blue-green, not what we'd think of as pure green.

>The color in the name of the show being "mizuiro" which literally
>means water-colored, "mizu" being (as every Ranma fan should
>know) the word for (cold) water. But as you say, the Technogirls
>were making a somewhat figurative translation, trying to convey
>a double meaning.

Cool. I was actually kind of counting on somebody knowing more about it.
Thanks. :)

>I don't know, I'd say Lum would be a better candidate for that
>description.

Hmm..true. It was mostly a theory, but it seemed at least marginally
plausible. How else could you explain Rumiko's saying that it was purple?

Victor Lee:
>><snip comments about colours and a certain animated amazon's hair>
>
>You idiot.
>
>And I mean that in the nicest way, I swear.

Hehe... point taken. I knew it was a touchy subject. I just thought I
might be able to bring something new to the table.

>Although I only caught the tail end of that debate as a newbie, so I
>only see it as an amusing little anecdote and can't quite grasp the
>concept of it being as big as it was. But then, there's a lot of stuff
>that I can't quite grasp. Losing your wallet at a busy train station is
>something one should panic about, isn't it? That's what people seem to
>think anyhow...

The way I see it, it's a good example of the kind of fun the people can
have on the ML. Just like others have said earlier, it's fun. :)

See ya,

Mark
