That reminds me. Has anyone heard anything about the next
translated Graphic Novel? It seems the last one I've been
able to find is VGN 14, which was available at AX '99 and
subsequently made public in August '99. 2 GNs a year just doesn't
cut it, especially since they seem to get thinner and thinner
each time. VGN 1 is practically twice as long as VGN 14. @_@
As for the 2-episodes per tape bit, yeah, it's pretty bad,
considering the comparative prices they charge. I can buy
a tape with 3 or 4 Slayers episodes for AT LEAST U$D 5 less (dubbed)
or AT LEAST U$D 10 less (subbed). That's absolutely outrageous.
(Though not as outrageous as, say, Evangelion. @_@) Given the popularity
of the series (at one point) and length, you'd think they'd realize
they could leverage the economy of scale that's thereby present to lower
prices, which would help to further increase marketshare and promote
profits.
And as for the DVD, they're not only overcharging and underreleasing,
they're region-encoding for USA-only play. Bah!
Viz has, of late, fallen quite far in my opinion.
Ahem.. Okay, I'm really going back to lurking now. I swear.
Really.
