Yeah, she is. Like, she's oblivious to all the clues about P-chan,
she's oblivious to the fact that it *is* possible Ranma is innocent of
everything she blames him for, that Ranma's not always the pervert, the
trouble-maker... No one's perfect, certainly not Akane.

One of her biggest faults is her inability to express her feelings for
Ranma. Sure, I'd prefer it if she were more open about her emotions.
That would make a lot of things a hell of a lot easier.

Have you ever thought that the reason she isn't able to admit her
feelings is because of fear? Fear that Ranma would mock her, laugh at
her, insult her? That she has insecurities about her own femininity,
her attractiveness, her appeal to men? Insecurities because she can't
cook, she's thick-waisted and flat-chested, she's inept at most female
tasks, she's so clumsy and uncoordinated that she makes a terrible
martial artist...

...and it certainly doesn't help that Ranma constantly reminds her of
these facts she already knows about herself...

Hey, big surprise, behind that facade of violent energy is an incredibly
insecure girl. Can you blame her? Her mother died when she was too
young to understand death, leaving her with an emotionally distraught
father, an oblivious Kasumi, and a Nabiki who would grow up to be even a
better "pretender" of emotions than Akane. With all the problems of
growing up, she has no one to seek advice, since Kasumi would just smile
and say it's okay, and Nabiki's hardly the type to give "motherly"
advice.

*I* don't have much respect for Shamps or Ukyou, because although they
are honest about their feelings, they very seldom take Ranma's feelings
into consideration. Most of the time they're obsessed about what *they*
want, expecting Ranma to agree to what they want.

Of course the way they try to eliminate Akane out of the "fiancee race"
only makes me dislike them even more. Because Akane is nice to them,
almost thinks of them as friends, even after Shampoo tried to kill her,
or Ukyou tried to set her up with Ryouga so that Ranma would be "free".

Okay, Akane is often angry with them, especially with Shampoo. But when
Shampoo is in danger, do you see Akane saying, "Why should I help that
bitch? Didn't she try to kill me and erased my memory some time ago?"

Because Akane is the typical "her bark is worse than her bite" person.
She's all angry words and flaring hot auras, but she's never capable of
lasting hatred, and certainly not revenge.

Akane is the perfect example of "Actions speak louder than words". She
yells at Ranma for being stupid, pervert, a troublemaker, a womanizing
jerk... you name it. He so much as glances at another girl and she
makes him suffer for it.

Big deal.

She's never tried to use Ranma's weakness against him - I mean holding a
cat in front of his face to scare him off. Sure, she pushed Shampoo-cat
against his("her" at the time), but Ranma himself wanted to use the
cat-fist to defeat Cologne, so that doesn't really count. She doesn't
use any dirty tricks to get him, like Shampoo's one-time Nannichuan...

and most of all, I don't believe she would deliberately throw bombs at
Shampoo or Ukyou if Ranma were at the verge of marrying either of them,
like Shampoo and Ukyou did in v38. Didn't they think that, hey, maybe
Ranma *did* want to marry Akane?

And if they did think that Ranma did really love Akane and wanted to
marry her, if *they* really loved Ranma as much as they claimed, why did
they destroy the wedding, and thus destroyed (even if temporarily)
Ranma's happiness?

*I* believe that Akane wouldn't try to force Ranma into any situation he
didn't want. If Ranma were to marry any of the other girls, she'd snarl
and shout and maybe not speak to him for the rest of his life, but she
won't deny him his happiness. Of course, I don't have direct proof of
this one, but I like to think that's the way Akane would react.

Whenever Ranma's in danger or he needs help, Akane drops everything to
run
to his side. She's jumped into danger so many times, without a thought
of caution for her own safety, to save Ranma's hide. She helped him
when no one else would, like when he was thrown out of the Tendo dojo
and she came to bring him a thermos and some food.

Ranma has his faults, too. There are times when Akane would almost let
her barriers drop and bare her feelings to him, but as usual, he manages
to make a fool of himself and make her mad again, and we all know how
easy it is to trigger her temper.

As I said, no one's perfect, certainly not Ranma and Akane. But
together, each of them is able to fill a gap, a void, in the other... so
that, together, *THEY* are perfect.
