Welcome aboard Kato, if you haven't read the FAQ yet the URL follows in the
trailer section of every MO.

This isn't exactly the correct forum to ask Tenchi Muyo questions. Yet
since Tenchi Muyo! is closer to Ranma than the second coming of Christ I'll
answer your question.

In the OAV series for Tenchi Muyo (which is the canon) Ryoko is the
daughter of Washu. She inseminated herself DNA material of a creature
called the Mass (Masu). Washu turned the oven on for awhile, after the
gestation period Ryoko was born.

Ryoko gets her array of powers from the Mass, whatever diefic powers Washu
transferred to her genetically and Washu's gems.

You need to rent or buy the OAV series' to learn the correct storyline.

In both TV series Washu and Ryoko aren't really related.
