Re: manga vs anime
I am sick to death of this topic, why does it come up so much??? Suffice
it to say that I like the anime but I strongly throw my vote in with manga
over anime as proof. And I would add that that is the logical and obvious
choice, but just as obviously, it is *not* to some people. <sigh>

It comes up because of several reasons. n many places
the anime is a lot easier to find the anime over the manga (especially if you
do not have a credit card or checking account) so someone really digs the
Ranma 1/2 anime and they subscribe to this ML but they have no access to the
manga so they can only talk about the anime and then they find that other
members are very cold to them because they can only see the anime.
The Ranma 1/2 manga is superior to the anime but when
it comes to anime vs. manga debates I think that non-Japanese fans are way
more critical than their Japanese counterparts, it makes me think certain
non-Japanese Otaku consider themselves to be the market audience for the
anime and maga which they are not, non-Japanese manga and anime fans are only
secondary audiences and the creators did not create their series with us mind
even if they do enjoy having an international fan base. On this ML many
people complain about how the anime version of Ranma 1/2 sucks and that they
change to much from the manga. This might be true but by our standards but we
seem to forget that the Ranma 1/2 anime lasted for 140 plus TV episodes, 3
movies, and several OAVs so the production company behind the anime must have
been doing something right at least in Japan. After spending time on many
MLs, newsgrops, and websites, I think that many non-Japanese Otaku act too
high and mighty like they are the dictators of the medium.
