Re: my list of SODs
Man what a dope I am. I should have put Herb, Mint, and Lime's
parent/ancestor under SOD girl/woman, and I got the other SOD man mixed
up with the fox spring. Gomen, minna!! ^^;; (but can I please keep my
Ranma amateur-expert card??? ;P)

Shadow and Albert:
I am deeply impressed by your essays on feminism in anime. I do agree
that it is a factor in anime's unacceptability in America. My basic
feeling is that once a country gets really powerful and big and solves its
base level problems of hunger, it gets *bored*. How to solve boredom?
Make up a bunch of things to fight over.
I may be a woman myself and all for womens' rights and all, but
bugs me to no end when feminists argue about pointless trivial facts such
as: "'The Lion King'" is a terrible sexist movie b/c all the lionesses had
to wait for a male lion to take charge and this shows that women cannot
be leaders." Baloney to that, I say.
As a personal note, none of the anime I've watched has ever
bothered me b/c of sexist ideas (altho I've watched precious little
anime). For instance, SailorMoon, the only really shoujo anime I've ever
seen, bugs me a lot b/c of sheer corn and sap (corny and sappy), but
*not* b/c they all seem to dream of hunky guys. (ep. 95, intro of Michiru
and Haruka *cracks me up*!) There's a difference between sexism and
comedic young romanticism which hard-core feminists seem to want to
eradicate. Baloney again, I say.
Anyway, I guess I haven't too much intelligent to say on this topic, so
I'll just shut up. ^^

Re: manga vs anime
I am sick to death of this topic, why does it come up so much??? Suffice
it to say that I like the anime but I strongly throw my vote in with manga
over anime as proof. And I would add that that is the logical and obvious
choice, but just as obviously, it is *not* to some people. <sigh>
'Bye all! Off to the world of matrices and eigenvalues...
