Well, actually, the computer acess was denied, but I didn't realize
this, considering I -finally- received my stuffs last Tuesday and
have been playing various games, and of course reading manga, for
about 80% of the time since that...
So........
Lots of newbies, lots of questions, already got the answers, which
makes it all shorter :
Welcome to you all!
I'll catch with the name as the MOs go on...
Oh, and welcome back to Colin, of course.
Something from Jim that caught my attention :
>Of course, this is all theoretical, since these types of attacks
>aren't real. I know... I've tried to do them. :)
You want even more stupid? (beware)
I -trained- them all during 3 f****** years. It -really- doesn't
work.
And Benzaiten with:
>I don't think the use of ki attacks would be so prevalent in martial
>arts anime if it didn't have a basis in fact.
I'll probably see the end of the argument, but IMO that' more on a
philosophic(al?) way.
When you've trained enough to destroy stone blocks, or hit your
opponent with just enough strenght to prevent his moves or wind him
out, the next step would be to hit your opponent at distance. To hit
him with your mind, more precisely,. because your mind is so tuned in
your body parts (hands, legs, arms, whatever) that with the mere move
at distance from this "empowered" body part, you can do the wanted or
necessary physical damage.
"Westerners" have the same pattern with espers, but espers
are considered as "superbrainers" that have often weakened bodies,
while in asian martial arts it's the last aspect, the most difficult,
the one that needs perfect control and development of the rest of
the body.
Benzaiten again...
>Hotnit is cool for a number of reasons ....
Ouch... does THAT remind painful and dark memories...
Before anything else, yes, you have some points. It's just that he
was way too insistent.
and again on women status...
I admit that women treated like sleves are rare in EEC and "strongly
americanized" societies.
But do you know what's Africa? Can you say Afghanistan? Or in
general, musulman religion?
No, this is not racism. It's just that in their religion, women are
close second to animals. They work for their husband, are sex slaves
the first few years, then have nothing to say until death. Well,
that's an almost accurate description.
I'm well aware of this. It's their religion, so we can't say a thing.
Moral and Justice can't do a thing about it, (heck, if justice could,
France would get 5 millions new "hosts" in its jails next week... but
said jails are already filled)
I don't know why the common assumption about matriarchies either, but
remember that they are way too many women that are treated like
slaves in our world. (I'm pretty sure everyone already knew about it,
but it had to be reminded if only once)
Kurogo :
>Love isn't logic, it comes from the heart.
<annoying buzzer> wrong!
If you heart starts to pump like mad and you feel good about it,
there is a reason.
If your heart aches when you're not with a special somebody, there is
a reason.
That's called Love.
And it's your logical interest to put up with said special somebody
to
a) prevent your heart from aching
b) Make your heart pump like mad and feeling good about it.
If that's no logic....
Cyberwiz gushing on his japanese abilities...
So what?
Colin lives in Japan. He can speak Japanese in his everyday life
(almost. I think)
-I- am fluent in Japanese. Have been translating manga and anime for
2, almost three years now.
And am negociating my job as a translator for a french publisher
right now. And that's not really interesting as far as it is.
Caroline (our beloved Kun-chan) is fluent too. She studied japanese
society.
I'm pretty sure others (Newcomer, Albert, Chris, Don, Brad, Yoru, and
probably more that may already have answered) can do it too.
You know, when I came on the list, I was at the same time a complete
newcomer on the net and on that ML, and the most loaded Ranma fan out
there (and probably still am). That's life. It hurts to be belittled,
but when you're new, that's the way it is. And it's good, because it
gives a more humble perspective on oneself. Well, it should.
(I see you've already gotten it. Sory for rubbing it once again)
Ok, I'll stop now and compose a second MO. It should be there in two
hours.
Pierre
Part of me is human, the other is a Ranma 1/2 otaku...
I'm a hopeless freak for video games, anime and manga...
AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
