Oh no, it's not fair to expect them to know this. Both Ranma and Akane
repeatedly and emphatically deny their feelings for each other, and because
this is exactly what Ukyou/Shampoo want to hear, they're more than happy to
believe it. As readers it's easy to see how they feel (via thought
balloons/introspection/etc), but it shouldn't be apparent to many characters.

Lessee, that was what Brad said, no? Basically many of us don't give
credence to the anime as canon source material. Entertaining, yes, but the
original manga by Takahashi is what holds sway in a debate.

Not very likely. Ranma is fairly dated in Japan, so it's unlikely that there
is enough demand for a new OAV. However, if they did produce a new one, I
would love to see either the Saffron arc or Akari's intro animated.
Also, I know Tarou's intro was animated, but was his return and battle with
Rouge ever animated? If not, this would be a good potential OAV.
