amnesiack says:
if anyone's kept up with what AnimEigo's been doing recently, then you know that
they're re-releasing all of the Urusei Yatsura stuff on dvd in three sets: the
first forty episodes of the tv in a 10 dvd set, the last 40 episodes in another
10 dvd set, and all 5 movies and 11 oav's on an 8 dvd set. The price will
depend on the number of preorders that they get (as of now the first set is
$250, the second is $240, and the third is $200).
The question is this: When Viz releases the Ranma tv on dvd, can we, as a fan
base, get them to do the same sort of thing? I realize that the concept of Viz
doing something that DOESN'T drain its customers dry and making buying their
products actually economical is a radical change in world view, but if there was
enough outcry from the fans, do you think it could be done? They've already
released the two Ranma movies on dvd (seperately, of course) and the oav's are
due out at the end of this year, so its too late for them, but maybe if all the
fans get together we can save ourselves on the tv episodes.
So, what do you think? Is it worth a shot?
