QuestionMark:
>Ever read "Slayers Reflect," btw? Best Slayers fanfic >I've found...

Yes, as a matter of fact, when it was still being
written, I checked by that page every day to see if
it had been updated. ^_^ It's not only the best
Slayer fanfic out there--one of the few from that series
that actually pays attention to proper characterization
and real, Slayers-type humor--it's one of the best
fanfics, PERIOD. If Gagne-san went into the creative
writing business, he'd make a fortune.
For those who haven't read it, here's the address:
www.pixelscapes.com/slayers/
I HIGHLY reccomend it. Even if you -haven't- seen any
-real- Slayers, I even reccomend it then. It's THAT
good.

That, and it's sequels, CHAOS and REBIRTH.

<(((_^))> Go, Zelgadiss!

Sam:
>*sigh* OK, far enough. Halt, Meg-dude, take a breather. >It's a joke.
>It's all a flippin' joke, mate! Here look, I'll show >you -

::sighs:: Good...at least you were able to take a
rational view on this.

>Certain MLers: Stop hassling America.
>Me: Learn to take a joke, guys!

Problem is, I know it started as a joke...it's just that
some people who shall remain nameless yet still obvious
*coughnewcomercough* tend to be so vehement or offensive
that some people *sneezemesneeze* tend to take offense
anyway. My, I must do something about this terrible cold
I've been having lately...

>Seriously. OK, I'll admit that I've missed most of >Newcomer's anti-US
>rants from not being here, but I'm pretty sure I know >where he was
>standing. Much as he loves dissing it, I truly do not >think that
>Newcomer hates America.

 This is a new one.

>I believe his reasoning for hassling America involves >America holding up
>two signs, one saying "Asking for it" and the other >saying "Please".

Oh, I know it. Trust me. I LIVE there. We're ALWAYS
asking for it. Thing is, just don't give. America
often doesn't really deserve that much attention,
anyway. We can solve our own problems. Isn't that
right, Bill? ^_^

>It's not a hatred of the US, it's a gut-reaction "Did >you see that?"
>sort of thing, to the many silly things that Americans >do every day. As
>you yourself said in an earlier post, there are plenty >of violent,
>prejudiced, stupid Americans who made you feel ill. >Newcomer doesn't
>have that feeling. He can read a newspaper, watch TV or >listen to the
>radio and he'll hear something silly a certain American >has done and
>think "In no other country could anyone have done >something that dumb",

... I'm only going to say that you shouldn't place much
money on -that- bet. Things can get pretty damn wierd
here, but hey, look at Columbia or something. Place's
practically ruled by the mafia. 'Least it was the last
time -I- heard anything about it. :P No offense to you
Columbians out there...

>and he'll promptly 'share' it with the rest of us on >this ML.

Yeah, I know people like that. *shrug* The way he
ends up 'sharing' it, though, often tends to annoy me.
I just don't like it when people start loathing
Americans as a whole for something that the government
or whoever might have done it, did. I'm sure you know
people over in New Zealand who do dumb things, likewise,
there are people there who aren't so bad, and some just
downright kick ass. It's the same here.

>He's also my friend, so shut the hell up. I know you're >pissed, I've
>been annoyed at Newcomer from time to time myself (I >think I hit him
>with a vacuum cleaner once...)

::bows his head:: Then I apologize.

::The ML gasps in shock::

I was having a bad day yesterday, what can I say?
I know he's your friend, but he and I never really got
along, ever since he first mentioned how much he
dislikes David Eddings. Which, btw, I still can't
understand. If we ever met each other in person,
we'd be at each other's throats. Goddess forbid. ^_^

Though Id've liked to see the vacuum cleaner incident.
I've never seen anyone do something quite like that
before...brooms, yeah, but vacuum cleaners...that's
somethin' else...

>Megane-san, I have a problem. I'd very much like to >argue like hell with
>you about this, but your initial post on the whole >America thing, where
>you expressed your sentiment at what you saw everyday >was, in my
>opinion, extrememly intelligent and well thought out.

Thank you. I was only being honest with you, though.
I myself am not a big fan of America, in fact, I hardly
like the place at all, but my big problem is

A: Expressing it where people might get offended by it.
B: Being so obnoxious about it.
C: Not giving in and admitting that you might've said
it less offensively, obnoxiously, or not said it at all. You're exempt from this,
Sam, since in a way, you're apologizing.

>All this started when, in the wee hours of the morning, >tired and
>hungry, I typed up the whole EAA thing under the >misapprehension that it
>was funny. Which it was not.

That happens to you, too? Feh...I tell you, nobody's
brain is safe at 2:00 AM...I tend to make -such- a fool
of myself at that time...

>But then the comebacks
>came. They were not
>"Shut up Sam, that ain't funny" comebacks. They were >"America rules,
>Britain sucks!" comebacks. 'Here Sam, have some fresh >material to work
>with.' 'Ta guys, don't know what I'd do without you.'

Actually, it wasn't -that- bad...when I said it was
stupid, I wasn't thinking of it as a joke. Just shows
how I tend to take things too seriously, huh?
Not that it -was- incredibly funny, but the whole things
with the starving African children wasn't that terrible.

>*sigh* For the final time, it's all a joke. At least >with me it is, and
>I'm pretty sure it is with Newcomer (though I can't be >100% sure on
>that). You see an opertunity, you dive on in. Ragabash >thing. I DO NOT
>HATE AMERICA. I like many American things. I have many >American friends.
>I buy much American Stuff. I spent most of my childhood >and teenage
>years in International schools the world over, and the >things about
>International schools is that everyone there gets >American accents. Like
>me. When I turned up in New Zealand almost five years >ago I had a
>cast-iron accent. I went to school. "Fuckin' Yank!" >they said. So the
>next day I dusted off my old, unused English accent. >"Fuckin' Pom!"
>Can't win really.

That must suck...at least nobody -here- really has
a problem with accents. Goddess, there must be at
least a hundred hispanic kids at school who are all but
unintelligible when they talk...I've seen a few British
accents here and there, and it may be just me, but I've
always found a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean accent to
be incredibly melodical sounding. ^_^ It's funny as
hell, though, to see caucasian whites trying to speak
in ebonics 'cuz dey tink it's coo'. I bet -you- don't
have that little problem. ^_^

>No I don't hate America. Some people here think I'm a >racist. No way. I
>make fun of things.

Who doesn't? It's practically human instinct, nowadays.

>And the thing about America is that
>there is so
>often something there to make fun _of_. I apologise >unreservedly for
>that stupid EAA post, which as I've said was not >written under a stable
>frame of mind. I do *not* apologise for replying to the >people who
>immediatly bashed Britain and all that, because a) they >made me laugh
>like hell, and b) that was unrelated.

You don't have to. Who says all English-speaking non-
Americans are British, anyway? That doesn't make any
sense.

Anyway...
You're forgiven, and I'm sorry I blew up. Like I said,
it was a bad day. And it's alright, go ahead and hate
America. That's just fine with me...what I got mad at,
as I mentioned, was the way some of you were saying it.
I got annoyed, one thing led to another, etc. etc.

>And now, as I've been doing for the last few days, I'll >get back to
>working out more Ranma 1/2 related posts. Contrary to >popular belief I
>*like* Ranma 1/2, and joined this ML because I like >talking about it.

Good. Oh, if everyone's wondering about my sudden
change of heart, let me sum it up like this: I don't
like to fight, and when I do, it's usually very ugly.
I'm sure you all can testify to that. ^_^
I'm eager to end this whole thing.
Yes, I'm willing to admit to my faults and how I wasn't
looking at it as a joke. I do that sometimes. Hey,
we all have our little shortcomings, as Someone-Who-
Newcomer-Doesn't-Like said. ^_^

Anyway, I say we drop the whole matter. That way
there'll be no more of this trouble, at least for now.
A year of peace is worth more than a century of war,
I say.
You dislike/make fun of America,
fine. For all I care, you can hate America until your
teeth bleed. Just keep it to yourself, and nothing'll
go wrong. At least I won't get angry anymore. Or at
least, I'll try not to, but you never know with me.
At any rate, I'm gonna drop the subject, not reply to
any more anti-American stuff, should it still come up,
and concentrate on anime and Ranma things.

And I apologize for the long spam...we'll return you
to your normal ML, now. ^_^

Hell, maybe I'll just go back into lurking...safer
that way... -_^

Hibiki Megane

 17. The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare.
He was born in the year 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never
made much money and is famous only because of his plays. He wrote
tragedies, comedies, and hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter.
Romeo and Juliet are an example of a heroic couplet. Romeo's last
wish was to be laid by Juliet.

"Flyyyyy me to the mooooon,
and let me plaaaay among the staars...
let me see what spring is like on Juuupiter and Maars.."

"Oh, shut up."

do with Evangelion.
