Pretty much. Make sure Arachneid is in its natural class (water) and
don't let have the fruit that makes his form state (changing to Ashura
is consider a change of form). Fabrizio said Ashura has incredible
attack power, and consider it is water based, it will absolutely rule in
the higher levels, since all the tough monsters come from Fire element
with the exception of the dreaded Golem, but you should have more than
enough Fire balls and other assorted fire spells to deal with those. As
a general rule, Wind has the weakest monster, so Water is your best bet.
The best way to ensure you can get far is have multiple familiars, and
let yourself fight as much as possible before getting the Familiars. I
found that you tend to wound up with 1 level per tower level, and it is
really not all that practical to stay on any level of the tower for any
extended amount of time. If your levels are below where you should be,
you'll catch up right away since you get double experience. The key to
get through the tower is to conserve the Familiars as much as you can.
If your Familiars goes, so do you, unless you've like Gold Sword + 100
or something like that, which isn't exactly easy to get by any means.
So, try to conserve their MP as much as you can. Cyclone's MP usage
reduced ability is very, very nice. I also like the Dragon just because
metal (not the Familiar) is far more abundant than Pita/Water Crystals.

Dragon is pretty hard to get. The best way is use a Roche Fruit (very
very rare stuff... Fabrizio say the best way to get them is throw junks
at Barong) which turns any monster into an egg. So, use it on a Dragon
when you see one. Dragon has very balanced stats, very low MP, but
since it gains all MP when it eats metal, you can keep it for much
longer period of time (all swords except wooden and most shields are
considered metal). BTW the Dragon start out as a Kid and becomes a
Dragon at level 20. You might get really lucky and find a Kid Egg, but
I haven't seen those yet. The rarest egg I have is a Glacier (last
entry on water (or at least that ones you can get). Still missing Golem
and Maximum and Killer, the heavy hitters from Wind (Golem) and Fire.
Hikewne is the ultimate monster you get for beating the game, though
I've to agree with Fabrizio that if you fuse a Metal and a Ashura, it's
going to be stronger than Hikewne in terms of stats, though of course
Hikewne'll just Dark Wave whatever you run into (instant kill, uses
about 10 MP, but works on everything, including Ghosh (or whatever that
guy was). ^_^) Of course Hikewne starts out with 120 MP and killer
stats (only weaker than an Ashura in attack and Metal in defense) which
is very nice... but it can't be fused with anything whatsoever (it'll
reject the fruits).
Metal starts out as a Block, these guys with great defense and the
annoying stun magic. Get them to level 20 they become a Metal. These
guys have incredible defense stats. Oh yeah, as a general rule,
anything with a 'magic' ability can upgrade except Kewne and Hikewne.
> Fuse what with what? (Just recently got 2nd collar)
Ashura with Metal.
> AHA! missed that hint....
Well, I didn't figure it out, either, so don't feel bad. I guess if
you read the description or ever raised a Barong you'll know, but
Barongs are so hard to find.
> Btw, whats behind the locked door in the villiage?
No one's there right now, but as the village progresses a new girl,
Cerrel, the one with the teddy bear, will live there. IMO, she's by far
the cutest girl out of the bunch. ^_^ You need a certain building
before she'll show up... BTW the only way to get her to like you is if
you retrieve a certain item on level 28 (I think... it's easy to miss it
because it looks like a regular item but if you read its description,
it's not a regular item)
