As a wiccan i feel obliged to make it known that Satanism and Wicca are no
where near alike.  LaVey satanism is a very new thing pretty much.  the Church
of Satan was established by LaVey in 1966 (i think thats the exact year, but
somewhere around there)  and Wiccan is millions of years old (no lie), it even
pre dates christianity.  Wiccans do not practice sacrification (not saying any
accused wiccans of that, but you may have been thinking it) its a very lovely
and pleasent religion which pretty much celebrates nature and the earth and
stuff like that.  Wiccans celebrate the changing of the season and stuff,
whereas LaVey type satanist celebrate pretty much nothing as far as i know.
Personally i dont like LaVey satanists and traditional Satanist kinda frighten
me.  (i knew a traditional satanist once...who like was all into demonology
and stuff..creepy) i used to know alot more about LaVey satanists, but i
forgot alot of it, and plus its 2:30 a.m. so i'm not really thinking right
anyway.  but um, i guess my point is that Satanism and Wicca are different
that even though they TECHNICALLY can both be labeled as pagan, or neo-pagan
(even though wicca has bee around for so long it has adapted itself to many
different cultures and beliefs as well...wiccans worship and pay homage to
gods and goddesses to many different cultures...) they really arent very
alike. Wiccans dont believe in the devil, much less worship him, and there is
kinda a wiccan rule to live by which i think everyone should really live by,
"do what you will as long as it harms none".  =) how friendly.  um, i hope i
said something of use, i really do try to =)   sorry if this makes no sense...
