I hate to say it but if Ranma was released in the states it would
be edited until there was nothing left.  The average T.V. Executive would
wet his pants if he saw half naked teenage kids running around.  He would
care nothing for maintaining the story line or comedy, Ranma would just
be a censored mess.  "Oh my god, did she jackass!!!  Edit that out
immediately!!!"  It seems like in Japan animation is truly about an
artform and not so profit oriented.  Unfortunately the opposite holds true
over here.  Look at that!  A serious post, I must be sick or
something...now if you'll excuse me I'm going to cry over the lost days of
G.I. Joe and The Transformers...*whimper*sob*
