<1. Ranma could never be popular in America because the teenaged cast
members
do not act like they came from Kids. They don't drink and they don't
engage
in sex. Compared to teenagers in most American movies and TV shows, Ranma
teenagers are saints.>

That is true. Most shows these days do show teenagers drinking and having
sex, etc. Kids...that was an alright movie, actually. But anyway. That
doesn't mean that Ranma couldn't be popular in America. I don't think it
would ever be really popular in America, but that has mostly to do with
north american cynicism towards anime and manga. Example: my friend lent
his friend, a girl, the first few Evangelion eps, promising there would be
no nudity, which the girl believed. A few days later she's yelling at him
about how he's such a pervert for watching that stuff and is no longer
really good friends with him anymore. Anime will probably never reach
America the way it reached Japan.

Owain Lawson - Ryogas Umbrella - there's no real nudity in evangelion
