The words Jet Lee and "Rocks" are virtually synnonamous.
No, wait, I don't mean JL _IS_ a rock!
I meant _HE_ rocks.
Personally I quite like the silly HK's along with the good ones
(Swordsman for example: It had the clssic shctick of the Ninjas
pulling out giant Shurikin, throwing them, jumping on top and surfing
them towards the enemy. Insanely silly). Not only that, but
the "silly" ones, ans you put it allow for funkier action scenes,
with totally over the top supernatural attacks.
Pretty darn cool, IMO.
However I won't dispute that some of Jet's best work was in the
serious stuff, especially the most exellent Once Upon A Time in
China. Hell, i've seen that so much I can sing along to the theme
music.... (badly, I might add, without any comprehension, and
probably mispronouncing the words.),
At any rate, Am I the only one who sees the similaritys between
some of the characters from OUATIC and Ranma?
I mean, look at it:
Master Fey-Hong, and his styles ( the incredible dexterity and
acrobatics) seem to resemble a grown Ranma in so many ways..
(Heck, he even has a pony-tail!)
How about his rival (for the first movie at least):
Master "Iron-Robe" Yim: Am I the only one who sees the similaritys
between him and Ryouga?
Heck, he even fulfills some of the same roles.....
How about that guy Mr Yim fought in his intro?
The guy with the sword (chinese version of the Kantana, can't
remember if it had a proper name or not):
Does his arrogance and self assurance remind you of anyone?
Kunou perchance?
(There's a scary thought: "Ching-sum" Yim killed the Swordsman with
his bare hands: Is Adult Kunou's destiny to be challenged Adult
Ryouga to a duel, and die through a finger puncture throgh the neck?
For that matter Out of Curiosity, has Ryouga ever fought Kunou (apart
from the Moxibustion Weakness story, where he saved ranma) ?
Did he Kick his butt? Furthermore, is adult Ryouga destined to die
from gunshot wounds after chasing after a Ranma that ran out on a
duel ( Last words " You....can't..fight...guns...with...Kung-fu
(karate) " )
Cool comparison, at any rate (IMO.)
