Depends on which doll you're talking about. If it's the gift he wants to
give to Onna-Ranma, than it's a gift. If you're talking about that scene
with the puppets, he's reenacting what he feels is Ranma's enslavement
of his pig-tailed goddess. I felt the manga version was much better,
though the anime is pretty funny. ^_^
