Nope, it isn't in any of the manga, neither are those exchanges at the
beginning, not only on the Karuta CD, but on Hot Song Contest as well.
They're just made for the CD, which is kinda nice (I feel t=like the Hot
Song Contest is funnier ^_^). Mousse's band ont he Karuta isn't too bad,
either.

On a somewhat related note, in the Memorial Book (thanks Ruben ^_^)
there's a drawing of the characters playing instruments..to summarize
the "band"...

Otoko-Ranma- conductor
Onna-Ranma - banjo/yukelele
Akane - harp
Genma-panda - kazoo-type instrument, drums
Kasumi - keyboard
Nabiki - lute
Principal Kunou - Hawaiian style guitar
Ukyou - flute
Shampoo - larger lute
Ryouga - cymbals
Mousse - some kind of string instrument
Happosai - mini-trumpet
Cologne - accordion
Kodachi - strings?
Kunou - tambourine?
Shirokuro - rattle

I'm not sure about some of the instruments, so someone with the
Memorial Book can correct me.
