I'm also a bit of a comic collector (NO SUPERHEROES!).  I'd rather have the 
comic than the graphic novels (rather have both!).  I usually get the comics 
to collect, the graphics novels to read and fill in the holes.

If anyone cares (NO!) a partial list of what I usually collect:
Star Trek (all), Star Wars (all), Groo, Transformers (well...), GI Joe, 
Aliens, Predator, Jurassic Park, (most MAJOR movies)...
and of course: Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura-Return of Lum, Maison Ikkoku, 
Gunsmith Cats, Dodekain, (a few others I cant think of) and most recently 
Mermaid's Mask...

If I could get the original Manga, I probably would get it...  IF I had a 
good translator...  :-)
