Here it is -- my English rendition of the first story to the Ranma gets
weak arc.  As I said in my previous post, any suggestions, comments,
criticisms (constructive) are more than welcome (since this is my first

I'll warn you all that in order to completely understand what's going on,
you need a copy of vol. 13 handy (I did not give any background/scene
descriptions -- it's a straight (liberal, but striving for accuracy)
translation of the dialogue and FX)...  I hope to have parts 2 and 3
(definitely part 2) ready within a week...  Please let me know what you
think!

Notes:  JAKYUU, HIN-RIKI-KYODATSU-KYUU, and HA-KYUU-HOU are words made up
        by Takahashi-sensei (as far as I can tell...).  Any suggestions
        on making them sound natural to English-speaking readers are more
        than welcome.  Also, any suggestions on SFX are very welcome.

        o-kyuu = a type of folk medicine (if that's how you'd call it).  It's
                 hot moxa (that's the name of the plant it comes from) that
                 you apply to certain focus points on the body (the same as
                 acupuncture) to relieve muscular stress and tension.  It can
                 also be used in tandem with acupuncture.  (Hopefully my
                 information is correct.)  From the people I've talked to
                 who've had this done, it really hurts.  I believe it does
                 leave a mark after being applied (I mean you're basically
                 burning yourself with this thing...).

[ Note: Soun misunderstands what Happosai says to Ranma just before putting
        the o-kyuu on him.  Happosai says, "...o-KYUU o suete yaru!!",
        literally, "I'll place an o-kyuu on you!!"  This phrase also means,
        in a more colloquial sense, "I'll punish you!!"  Soun thinks Happosai
        is using the phrase colloquially (i.e., punish), and is surprised to
        find out that he really was just putting an o-kyuu on Ranma (Little
        does Soun really know that Happosai actually meant it both ways ^_^ ).
        I tried to translate this misunderstanding by using: "give you a taste
        of your own medicine", (i.e., get one's revenge) playing on the
        assumption it could be misinterpreted in a similar way.  Hopefully, it
        worked... ]
