Er... I feel sorry because I find Ranma 1/2 so funny, while you seem
to be missing out on most of the fun.

btw, here's an interesting observation:

Most of ML | Blade (and some others)
Ranma 1/2's funny: yes not particularly funny
Ranma's scum: no (I think) absolutely

Now of course, other's find Ranma himself scum, while still finding
the series funny... though I find it hard to understand how they can
enjoy the series so much when Ranma appears 3 times a page on
average...

okay, vol 23, page 63:
Tarou breaks off the smoke stack and whips it around at Ranma, and it
hits Ranma at about 10-30 degrees to the horizontal), and then
proceeds to hit Tarou on the head too. Looking at the lines indicating
the movement for the stack, it shows it making the entire arc of
movement (Tarou's back to hitting Tarou's head), and not just the
10-30 degrees to the horizontal to where it his Tarou, if your theory
was correct.

And also, if there was a several second gap, this would give enough
time for Ranma to hit the ground before the stack hits Tarou, but they
actually fall at almost the same height.

From the available evidence, I see nothing suggesting that the stack
hit Tarou on the head because he couldn't hold it up any more.

The only hits Mariko got in that hurt Ranma badly (knocked her out),
was when Ranma was oh, _somewhat_ distracted - Ranma was trying to
deny not having told Akane "I love you", and acting "in a flurry" as
the fx says... okay, Ranma did let his emotions get the better of
him...

It was Ryuu who has the whole scroll. Ranma just had a part (1/10th?)
of the umi-sen-ken scroll.

Or however long it took for Genma to do the various moves Ranma picked
up afterwards...

going by the sound effects (3 seperate whacks of impact) and that one
rather looks like to have hit Ranma's arm head on, I dispute this.

Ryuu only took 2 (the 3rd one shown is a flashback), and we don't know
the relative strength Genma and Ranma were putting into the moves, and
the 'White Snake Venom Reliable Fist' was not the only move Genma did
on Ranma. (I better get a better answer on that line of Genma's where
he says something about showing Ranma the moves once - I can't find
this 'kuratte' verb the translator did as 'eat', which looks wrong to me)
