True, but the antagonists are not merely limited to trying to break them
up. Soun and Genma are also antagonists when they try in vain to get them
together, ending up doing more damage than good. Happosai needs no
explaination. Nabiki sells pictures and then there's the episode where
she has fun with Ranma for tearing up her concert tickets. Kasumi became
one when everybody thought she was angry and when she was possesed by the
oni. Akane, I would have to classify as an antagonist. The assault on the
girls' locker room for instance. She was the one major obstacle in Ranma
getting to the spring. If we stick to the series as a whole, Ranma is the
protagonist and everyone else is the antagonist. When it comes down to
individual stories it varies. The 3 Year Smiling Death Mousse is the
protagonist. In several stories many of the characters stop being
opponents and ally with Ranma. I think the series is basically about
Ranma's messed up life.
