Well some are rather obscure.  I couldn't figure out IMHO, IRL, AFAIK,
OTOH, SOD for quite a while.  I'll admit I'm a bit slow sometimes, but
surely acronyms have confused other people as well?

<Matome okuri means mail digest.  So it's 1 hour mail digest and 6 hour
mail digest.  That shouldn't be too hard for anyone.>

Not if you don't have any real idea what a mailing list is in the first
place.  I sure didn't expect an  e-mail-conveyed quasi-chat room.  (I was
expecting ads or something...)

Recall, this is from a complete fledgling's pov.  There's enough people
that *have* nicknames, titles, aliases, that it'd seem reasonable for
everyone to have one.

<No, it just means that they watched DUBBED anime.  Are you one of those
hosers who consider dubs to be a creation of the Antichrist, like some
other people here? ^_^>

I can't really say, b/c I've only seen one dubbed anime in my life, and
that was 2 1/2 years ago before I'd even heard of Ranma.  I have to admit
that I like the Japanese voices, and the samples of the English ones I've
heard sound weird, but that's probably b/c the English is so different,
and I expect their original (Jap) voices.

started out, because the vast majority of my exposure is DUBBED.  This
doesn't make me any less of an anime freak.)>

Oh, no offense to any dubbed people out there (my, that sounds queer). 
But I watch subbed, and just about every other Ranma-related thing I've
seen has the word "baka" in it, even some of the more serious fanfics
I've read.  ^_^
