I think he did that "strip tease" so that in the long run Akane's feelings
wouldn't get hurt. He does it directly for getting the film negative.
With that film negative, he can stop Kodachi from making more copies.
Therefore, it will be a lot harder for Akane to find out.  Or you could be
a little more circuitous and figure that when Kodachi tosses all the
photos around, the whole town will find out and eventually so will Akane.  

Concerning the "using the curse to an extreme", I think Ranma will go no
farther than what it will take to make what happens hilariously funny to
the readers (and throw in some fan service, too).  Of course, Ranma often
stumbles upon situations where using his curse would also be pretty
convenient (The Happo daikarin scroll, the "Japanese Nannichuan", getting
anything he needs from Kuno).
