It's time for me to start (i hope) Another Really Silly Thread!!
(or something Ranma-related to take our minds off...well, y'know, the other
stuff...)

How many of you are a little tired of nothing but British programming on PBS?
Yeah i know there's good stuff out there like Python, Faulty, almost anything
w/ Roan "Mr. Bean" Atkinson, and the good Doctor of course...

...but what about the rest of it?  well?

Okay, here's my point.  Network TV won't take it (and yet they're ready to show
Ellen out of the closet?  <XR scratches his head and shrugs>).  Syndication
can't handle it properly as of yet (see Haim Saban).  MTV could handle it if
they'd get over their nativist "American cartoons for Americans!!" attitude
(no disrespect to Aeon Flux...i guess...)...but til then...all reservations
aside...and i am a desparate, not to mention broke Ranmaholic here...

ANYONE WANNA SEE RANMA ON PBS? (local note to my fellow Chicagoans...if this
doesn't earn channel 11 its Window to the _World_ name, what will?!  Last i
checked, the "World" is not just the US, England, and Ireland, despite WTTW's
efforts to prove otherwise...)

Pro: Well, more exposure to the wonderful work of Takahashi-sama...

Pro: Introduced to more people on a widespread basis...ergo...

Pro: The same almost-popular/slightly-bigger-than-cult status of a Dr Who,
     Mr Bean, etc...

Pro: PBS has less braodcasting restrictions...at least on late nite sundays...
     no worries 'bout censorship...just obligatory "inappropriate for younger/
     more sensitive viewers" disclaimer at top of show...we'll all laugh at it
     and stay tuned of course...

Pro: HUGE boost to Viz's business (paging Trish...paging Trish...)

However...

Con: $300 stinkin dollars for the entire season one video box set + T-shirt
     to become a PBS member?

Con: Are you willing to wait thru Are you Being Served and Keeping Up Appear-
     ances to see the anything-goes martial artist at 11:30PM central...on
     a Sunday?

Con: Come december, what'll get more played out?  3 Tenors part IX w/special
     guests the Spice Girls?  Another John Tesh or Yanni special?  Or
     Tendo Xmas Scramble...dubbed of course (see Equal Romance)...


 In the words of Linda Richman (Mike Myers, SNL in case you don't know):
 Talk amongst yourselves, there's your topic.  Besides, like i said, we
 need some good ranma-related escapism now...i figured ludicrous is the way
 to go here---no more so than a World Series bound Cub team... ;)
