I always interpretted it as, as you said, his inexperience or the fact
that turning into a girl might turn some of the ladies off...  : )

RE: Ranma and Akane (skating ep.) I agree the show would've ended and
that'd be it... And I found it extremely funny, I still smile whenever I
watch it  : )
