I'm continuing the tradition we have on this ML for asking some really
silly questions...
Just got vol. 32 of the Ranma 1/2 manga, and I have a few questions about
certain things...
1. What is that statue that looks like a big-eyed duck with a chef's hat
on page 27, panel 3 in vol. 32?
2. On page 95, panel 6, Asuka challenges Kodachi to a double-date (W
de - to) or something like that. Let's see..."W" means "double" in
Japanese (I think this connection to "double u" is a bit tenuous). "H"
is "hentai" (perverted), "S" is short for "sadism", and "M" is short for
"masochism." (the last two definitions are courtesy of Tenchi Muyou) Are
there any other letters not mentioned here that have meanings in Japanese?
And in the Viz version (part 4, No. 3)...
3. On page 4, panel 1, Soun and Genma appears dumbstruck after looking at
some photos of the underwear thief suspect. Their faces looked like this:
^ ^
O) O)
+
t
^
(The text-graphics look vague, but just in case, the facial features are
drawn with hiragana characters. The mouth and eyebrows are the "he"
character, the nose is the "mo" character, and the eyes are the "no"
character)
What is the name for this face? It seems to appear whenever a situation
calls for a "generic" character or if a character is particularly dumbstruck.
