But in the Cantonese dubs of the anime, Shampoo speaks Mandarin when she is naming the food Ranma and his father eat in the flashback. She speaks Cantonese fluently later on in the anime series with a minor accent. Actually watched almost all of the series in the Chinese dubs of the anime before I've ever heard of the manga or seen the english version. So the concept of her being a bimbo because of 'bimbo' speak never occured to me until I saw the english translation.
