Of course, she is also the goddess of Murphy's Law, miscalculation, mishaps,
destruction, etc. etc.  This all shows up in later chapters, and in one of the
CD's where she makes a Conductor Mecha... who blows up in the end, just like
most of her robots (except Banpei-RX-78).  So it is REALISTIC that she'd screw
up on the bike.

BTW, after this they don't interact with each other until chap 70-something. 
OF course, they still hate each other.  Just as well.
