past one of the constraints of ML netiquette.

Some don't like to get stomped with emails that are long. If you had to pay
for the email - then that last post not appreciated.
(And you didn't earn extra kudos by CCing it to the same group...)

What makes it worse is when they can't decode it - to presume most can
handle or know how to decode MIME is presumptious. And I for one don't have
a lot of net access. (The common mode of distribution is plain old
compress/gzip and uuencode - not the best, but the most usable).

If you are about to ask "what is reasonable" then here it is...
(1) Consider others that have to pay for long posts and irrelevant requotes
    on your replies. MINIMISE THE NOISE!
    Cutting out the sigs and irrelevant bits of the previous post would be
    helpful.  
(2) If you do like to make a large posting - give some warning and a delay!
    The two best ways of doing this is
    - Post it out to people who request it privately. So the ML gets a
      description of content and size of the file and people can request it
      from you. (Or even put it at an ftp site)
    - Give at least 24 hours warning before you post. An email from the US
      will not be read for up to 12 hours in Australia due to time zone
      differences. So at least it gives someone like me a chance to say "do
      post it" or "don't post it"

Certainly, users who (1) Have to pay for net access and (2) Have only email
access are in the minority. But they still ought to be considered.
Otherwise - you can plaster it on r.a.a. or r.a.b.p. etc etc etc.

You aren't the sole target of my ire. But the most recent one (of many that
have gone through in the past). But that picture was at a site - and you
could have easily referred to that site without shoving it through this ML
without any warning.
