Well even with "event" stories such as the Life Sugoroku game, characters were in
play. Heck, we got to see Belldandy win the game all so she could kiss Keiichi.
That was a nice, fun story with a sweet end.

And when Fujishima-sensei introduced new characters, it was to bring out something
in the established characters. Peorth was the vehicle used to explore Belldandy's
history a bit, but to also address the issue of sexual relations between Bell and
K1.
While I was disappointed that there was no kiss in the story, I did like how the sex
question was handled. There was nice character work, even if there were some major
retconning (the angels).

You know, I miss Sayoko in the manga. Just when she was moving to a place where her
feelings for K1 were becoming real and her actions could have then produced more realistic
results, Fujishima-sensei dropped her. She only returned for the one
story-arc where Mara makes her queen.

Even though he was only used in one story arc (and did get a name-drop a while back),
I miss Sentaro-kun. That was one of the best Skuld character development stories
in the entire series, and IMO, the last one. I think it would have been fun for
him to learn the secrets and been involved with Skuld.

Oh well.
