Sorry for the delay.

Anyway, sometimes it makes better sense to modify things for the anime over the manga.
For
example, in "Fruits Basket", there is a dramatic story that covers most of volume
6 of the
manga. The anime covers about 8 volumes of manga and all the anime has is 26-episodes.

So when the anime writers took on the task of converting the manga to the anime, using
the
material from volume 6 as the end of the anime made perfect sense. It made the anime
end on a
powerful note, yet still left the door open for a 2nd series.

And I could repeat similar stories for other titles as well.

With AMS, all they have the greenlight for is 26-episodes at present. However, the
anime
writers have over 30-volumes of manga to work with. So what do they know that Fujishima-sensei

didn't know when he started the series?

1) Belldandy has an angel named Blessed Bell (or something like that).

Blessed Bell wasn't introduced until after Peorth came into the manga. Immediately,
we have a
retcon issue. If Belldandy had Blessed Bell all along, why didn't she use her before?
And why
does she use her non-stop today?

So the anime writers *could* introduce Blessed Bell from the start, but make it so
that
Belldandy's power restrictions prevent her from using Blessed Bell except in emergencies.

2) We know who Keiichi's parents are now.

3) We know that in addition to Belldandy's three sisters, there are goddesses named
Peorth and
Rind (among others).

4) We know who Urd's mother is.

5) We know that demons can have devils.

6) We know that gods and demons are linked to prevent them from killing each other.

And on and on.

Because the anime writers know all of this stuff, they can tighten the continuity
a great deal
and avoid some of those bad retcon issues. In avoiding retcon issues and knowing
things that
will happen in the future, the writers can make the anime an even better series than
the
manga.

That's the way I see it.
