DWills laments not being in touch with anime fandom until recently. I suppose
in one sense I could say the same---I'm not part of any anime club or fan
group. Most of the people I *talk* about anime with are right here on this
mailing list, or on AOL. But I was, as I said VERY active in science fiction
fandom for a long time. But why I first got involved, I had to drive all the
way to Minneapolis (a 4 hour drive from where I was living in Wisconsin at
the time) just to get together with fans. When I finally moved to
Minneapolis, a few years after that, Fandom became a way of life. Now that
I've moved to Milwaukee, I've gafiated from fandom even though Milwaukee has
a small but active Fan community. There are fans out there everywhere---and
most SF clubs these days have a group within them who are otakus like
us....8-P
