10.  REFERENCES (Contains Spoilers)

These references are to the original Japanese manga. In the next
revision of the FAQ, I hope to have page numbers as well as cross
references to the Dark Horse manga.

References indicated by "V_" are uncollected chapters. In other
words,
they haven't been put into a volume, yet.

[1]  V6 Ch41: Belldandy tells Keiichi that Yggdrasil is the control
system.

[2]  Although this is stated outright in Studio Proteus's
translation for the Dark Horse manga, it is not stated outright in
the original Japanese. However, it can be inferred by the following:
V6 Ch37: The Ultimate Destruction Program (UDP)/Lord of Terror(LoT)
is a physical manifestation of a program.
V6 Ch39: The UDP/LoT says that after destroying this universe, he
will construct a new one. The LoT had no idea how to destroy the
universe before Keiichi blurted out the existence of the UDP. Yet
once the LoT combined with the UDP it had the power to not only
destroy the universal superstring, but to make a new one. Since the
UDP is a program running on Yggdrasil*, Yggdrasil has the power to
construct a universal superstring. After the universal superstring
was cut, the universe did not cease to exist. Therefore, something
had to be emulating the superstring. Yggdrasil can reconstruct the
universal superstring, so it is probable that it can also emulate
the superstring. The only other candidate for emulator would be
Kami-sama, but there is no evidence to indicate that he possessed
either the ability or the intent to do such a thing himself.

*The UDP must have run on Yggdrasil instead of Nidheg because
Yggdrasil was adversely affected by the UDP (V6 Ch41) even though
the UDP/LoT never attacked Yggdrasil. Without Urd, Heaven doesn't
have the expertise (see the Welsper story arc) to fight something
like the UDP on Yggdrasil itself and therefore had to rely on the
one-shot prepackaged vaccine.

[3]  For all intents and purposes, Yggdrasil was down for an
extended period of time (the moon rock bracelet chapters) while this
emulation and reconstruction took place after Terrible Master Urd.

[4]  V2 Ch14: Skuld is out of her league when Urd leaves Yggdrasil
in her hands. When Skuld left Heaven, nobody was left who could even
debug the system.

[5]  V12 Ch71: Belldandy and Peorth have done some debugging of
Yggdrasil in the past.
V16 Ch94: Urd's response to Belldandy's offer to help with Yggdrasil
indicates Belldandy has helped in the past.

V17 Ch100: Skuld creates several 10-dimensional devices with no
special equipment, so she must be at least 10D.

anything else (V5 Ch32), but in Belldandy's case it seems to be
simply personal preference. Besides Urd, Peorth and Mara routinely
disappear into thin air in a conventional teleport.

[51] V16 Ch94: Urd throws Skuld back to Heaven against her will.

[52] V5 Ch32: Urd follows Skuld's teleport, appearing a few seconds
