Yeah, I noticed that, too! I was going to comment but got caught up
in the FAQ stuff. 

Makes you wonder how the spirit in Megumi's appartment could
immediately recognize Mara as a demon first class. Another indication
that there must be more to markings than meets the mortal eye.
